Blue Dart introduces Shippers Interest Insurance

The new service comes with arrangement of an insurance cover that protects the customers financial interests in the event of a loss or damage of their goods/shipment due to an external cause, which is underwritten by a leading general insurance provider Tata AIG General Insurance Company (TATA AIG). It covers All Risks, which means all accidental loss or damage is covered barring a few standard exclusions. The SII covers items in transit worldwide. The service, however, is not available in Cuba, Nor th Korea, Libya and Iraq.

Speaking to CARGOTALK, Ketan Kulkarni, head marketing, corporate communications & sustainability, Blue Dart, said that customers have easy access to this service through customer service at Blue Dar t/DHL or through any of the 350 Blue Dar t-DHL retail outlets across the country. For making claims under the insurance, Kulkarni said, customers need to lodge official valid claim with TATA AIG within 30 days of the shipment pick-up via written notification, which will enable a fast settlement of claims within 15 working days. This value-added service is a one-stop-shop that enables single contact for transpor t as well as full value protection arrangement for the shipper,he added.

Calling this initiative another effor t to serve customers as an integrated logistics service provider, Kulkarni said, Blue Dar t and DHL have been instrumental in introducing many innovative ideas in its range of products and services after thorough research on the needs and requirements of our customers.
