Blue Dart opens warehouse in Patna to speed up deliveries

Blue Dart, Asia's premier courier and integrated air express package distribution company, is positioning itself to take advantage of the growing demands of the huge consumption market of Bihar. With this end in view, the courier and package distribution company on Thursday announced the launch of a new warehouse in Patna for facilitating faster deliveries of consignments and wider and improved connectivity. While the compnay already has two warehouses in Jharkhand, the one launched in Patna will be the first warehouse to be opened in Bihar.

"The opening of the new facility is one among the many initiatives the company will be undertaking this year towards strengthening its infrastructure to meet the demands of its growing customer base in the state," said Amod Dasgupta, vice-president (eastern region), Blue Dart Express Ltd. He added that the company is planning to reach out to over 300 locations in Bihar.

Located at Transport Nagar, the Patna warehouse with an area of 500 sq ft will cater to various industries like pharmaceuticals, telecom and other electronic goods. "With this facility, the Blue Dart will be able to achieve targets of delivering shipments within four hours after receiving the loads," said Mr Dasgupta during the launch ceremony.br>

Admitting that Bihar's growth story was unfolding now, Mr Dasgupta added that the company saw huge growth potential in the state. " With the various development initiatives being undertaken now by the state government, we foresee several manufacturers and service providers emerging in Bihar, thus making it a focal distribution point," according to Mr Dasgupta.

During the last calendar year, the company carried over two lakh inbound shipments, weighing 900 tonne, into Patna. For the current year, it is planning to extend its reach to the remote comers of Bihar where no express company has its presence. "From the existing 51 locations, we want to increase our presence in 300 locations in Bihar during this year. The improving road infrastructure has provided us with an opportunity to reach out to various emerging sectors." he said.
